Washington, DC (Monday, October 19, 2009) - The only grassroots political movement that appeals to mainstream voters of all political stripes, the Modern Whig movement, has taken another step in its national efforts to compete with the other two parties with the reconstitution of the Whig National Committee. The first public act of the WNC is to announce that two more viable, common sense advocates have filed to run for Congress under the revived Whig Party banner.

The new Whig National Committee is based in Washington, DC and designed to serve as an umbrella for the overall Modern Whig Party.

The latest federal Whig candidates to announce their official candidacy for 2010, in conjunction with the Florida Whig Party, include John Annarumma of Gainesville, FL and Clayton Schock of Broward County, FL. Paul McKain’s Congressional campaign already is making waves in his district. In New Jersey, the Modern Whig Party is running a 2009 candidate for State Assembly, Gene Baldassari (NJ-14).

Washington, DC (Friday October 16, 2009) - On the morning of Monday, October 19^th, 2009, the Florida Whig Party will officially announce two new 2010 candidates for Congress in Florida’s 3^rd and 20^thCongressional Districts. The Florida Whig Party is affiliated with the national Modern Whig Party, a mainstream national political movement initially revived by post-9/11 veterans and now populated by voters of all political stripes.

The announcement will be made on the state party website at www.FloridaWhig.com and will be the 2^nd and 3^rd federal candidates to run on the recently revived Whig Party. Paul C. McKain, who is running against incumbent Democrat Allen Boyd, announced in May of 2009 for Florida’s 2nd Congressional District and is the first federal Whig candidate since the 1850’s. Gene Baldassari is currently running for the New Jersey Assembly (2009).

About Paul C. McKain:

McKain worked his way through college to earn his Bachelor of Science degree from Florida International University where he majored in Education and minored in Physical Sciences. This movement values common sense, rational solutions ahead of
ideology and partisan bickering. In 2009, this national movement of common sense advocates is rallying around Gene Baldassari, who is currently running for New Jersey state assembly in the 14th District. The majority of his national base of supporters come from the Republican and Democratic Party, as well as independents. As such, the Washington, DC-based Modern Whig Party continues to gain traction as a viable home for moderate voters.

The latest round of scandals and unproductive partisan bickering in Trenton is just another acknowledgment that a mainstream organization touting common sense and rational solutions is needed.

The post 9/11 veterans that founded the Modern Whig Party set out to build a political movement that places common sense ahead of ideology. The nationwide campaign strategy relates to quality rather than quantity. This technique will allow Party national resources to focus is on the most viable candidates rather than merely trotting out as many people as possible just to lose.

So far, the realistic, gradual and methodical approach has garnered a solid membership base as well as mainstream attention nationally. It’s great to see an increasing number of Citizen lobbyists banging down the doors of various politicians. We need to keep adding to the forces of freedom lovers and keep up the pressure. Even though Citizen lobbying is extremely important, it is not enough.

We need a viable third party.

It must be viable and it must be in addition to our current endeavors (not a replacement)

Two years ago, about several thousand Iraq/Afgahn vets formed the Modern Whig Party. Since then, thousands of people have joined the mailing list; making it the fastest growing Citizen based Party today. The theme of  a common sense government based on fiscal responsibility, and rational thinking ahead of party bickering, is one that will put the movement on the map.

This party can work.  We are developing “guerilla” marketing techniques that will allow us to reach voters at a much lower cost than the major parties need to win. The use of these techniques is the only way that we can succeed in taking back America. We can convert this new party into a weapon that will eventually destroy the monopolistic stronghold that is destroying America.

I am bringing the Modern Whig Party to New Jersey this year as the only Modern Whig candidate running in 2009. With a lifetime of business experience, cost accounting (cost cutting) experience, the author of a consumer book on litigation reform, and an activist (since 1980) to eliminate the income tax, I am the most qualified candidate in my District. In addition, I am one of the few freedom candidates running this year anywhere. I have the backing of the National party in Washington and have received positive letters of support from around the country.

I urge everyone within driving distance of the Trenton/Princeton area to volunteer to help put this Party on the map. We need your help ASAP because the campaign is now underway. If we win this election, the Modern Whig movement will reverberate throughout America. We will have a chance to elect a Congressional candidate next year.
