Washington, DC (Monday, October 19, 2009) - The only grassroots political movement that appeals to mainstream voters of all political stripes, the Modern Whig movement, has taken another step in its national efforts to compete with the other two parties with the reconstitution of the Whig National Committee. The first public act of the WNC is to announce that two more viable, common sense advocates have filed to run for Congress under the revived Whig Party banner.

The new Whig National Committee is based in Washington, DC and designed to serve as an umbrella for the overall Modern Whig Party.

The latest federal Whig candidates to announce their official candidacy for 2010, in conjunction with the Florida Whig Party, include John Annarumma of Gainesville, FL and Clayton Schock of Broward County, FL. Paul McKain’s Congressional campaign already is making waves in his district. In New Jersey, the Modern Whig Party is running a 2009 candidate for State Assembly, Gene Baldassari (NJ-14).

About the Whig Party:

Established in 1833, the Whigs are one of America’s oldest mainstream political parties. They were the original party of Abraham Lincoln and four other U.S. Presidents.

Revived by Iraq and Afghanistan veterans, the grassroots movement has quickly attracted tens of thousands of members. They represent moderate voters from all walks of life that cherry-pick between traditional Democratic and Republican ideals in what has been called the Modern Whig Philosophy.  There are four major reasons why your vote for Gene Baldassari in New Jersey’s 14th District would put power into your vote:

1. A Modern Whig Legislator would promote fresh, consumer-oriented ideas that do not normally see the insides of the State House. These ideas would resonate throughout New Jersey and America because the public would identify with the freedoms that are needed to rebuild America.

2. In the Legislature, the Modern Whig would not automatically vote for the “good ‘ole boy” team.  There would be no party pressures to accept “their” crazy ideas. Many of the legislative votes would be swing votes, giving more power to The Modern Whig. The only way that “they” will get a Modern Whig vote is when it is in the best interests of the general public.

3. Vote for One – Every voter is permitted to vote for two Assembly candidates. If you limit your vote to one candidate, especially the Modern Whig Party candidate, you will greatly increase your voting power. In short, the Republicans or Democrats would require about 36,000 votes to win. But the Modern Whig candidate can win with about 18,000 votes. A vote for one (instead of two) would double the power of your vote. This will be explained in more detail on this web site in the future.

4. America needs a viable political party that represents Citizens. It would be impossible to save America with the best of two devils. The Modern Whig Party is already preparing various candidates around America for next year’s (2010) Congressional contests. A win in NJ would put the Modern Whig Party on the map nationally. It would put the spotlight on the Modern Whig candidates in next year’s Congressional elections.
